Privacy Policy — Abjad Kids
Last updated: August 23, 2026
Abjad Kids ("we," "our," or "us") is operated by Abjad Kids LLC. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect information when you or your child use the Abjad Kids app and website (the "Service").
Abjad Kids is designed for children and built to be ad-free and safe. We take children's privacy seriously and only collect the minimum information needed to make the app work.
1. Who This Policy Covers
Abjad Kids is intended for use by children under the supervision of a parent or guardian. Account creation, subscription management, and payment happen through a Parent Portal — children do not create accounts, sign in independently, or manage payments themselves.
2. Information We Collect
From parents/guardians (via the Parent Portal, entered by the parent, not the child):
- Email address, used to create and sign in to an account (via Google Sign-In or email/password)
- Subscription and payment status (e.g. active, canceled, expired) — we do not collect or store full payment card details ourselves; payments are processed directly by Google Play Billing or, for customers in Ethiopia, by Chapa (a licensed local payment processor)
- Your child's name and age, provided by you when setting up your child's profile, used to personalize the learning experience and tailor content to an appropriate age level
- Your reason for trying the app (an optional response you may provide when signing up), used only to help us understand how families are using Abjad Kids and to improve the app
From the app itself (during a child's use):
- Basic progress data (e.g. which letters or lessons have been completed), used only to show parents progress reports and to let a child continue where they left off
We do not:
- Show advertising of any kind
- Sell or rent any user data to third parties
- Allow children to communicate with other users or strangers within the app
- Collect a child's photo, contact list, or location data
- Allow a child to enter their own name, age, or any personal information directly — this information is provided by a parent or guardian through the Parent Portal only
3. How We Use Information
We use the information above only to:
- Provide and maintain the Service
- Let parents track their child's learning progress
- Manage subscriptions and verify purchases
- Respond to support requests
- Comply with legal obligations
4. Third-Party Services
We use the following third-party services, each with their own privacy practices:
- Google Sign-In / Google Play Billing — for account authentication and subscription purchases on Android
- Chapa — for processing telebirr/mobile money payments for customers in Ethiopia
We do not share data with these providers beyond what's necessary for them to perform these functions.
5. Children's Privacy (COPPA)
We comply with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) and similar regulations. A child's name and age are collected only when a parent or guardian enters them directly through the Parent Portal during account setup — never by the child, and never within the app itself. This information is used solely to personalize the learning experience and is not shared with third parties beyond what's described in this policy.
By entering your child's name and age during account setup, you are providing consent as the parent or guardian for us to collect and use this information as described in this Privacy Policy. Parental consent is verified through the account creation and email verification process.
If you believe a child has provided us with personal information without parental consent, please contact us using the details below and we will delete it promptly.
6. Data Retention and Security
We retain account and progress data for as long as an account remains active, plus a reasonable period afterward for legal and support purposes. We use industry-standard measures to protect stored data, though no method of transmission or storage is ever 100% secure.
7. Your Rights
Parents/guardians may request to:
- Access the personal information we hold about their account
- Correct inaccurate information
- Delete their account and associated data
To make a request, contact us using the details below.
8. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by updating the "Last updated" date above.
